If you have ever been to Italy, you know that all of the cars are tiny.  They're so cute that you want to stick them in your pocket and bring them home with you.  Unfortunately, cute is not functional.  To get from our hotel to the Termini to get to the train we were taking to Venice, we had to split up into 2 cars.  Not realizing that logistical issues could occur, I had all the Euros.  My driver decided to take a different route and park in a completely different area of the Termini than the cab that my wife was in.  Her driver was not happy when she informed him that she had no Euros.  All's good as plastic is universal.  It took me 15 minutes to find her. The train ride to Venice was basically uneventful.

My wife is the typical American traveler.  Everything she does is based on convenience and comfort. Her idea of an ideal vacation is lounging on a beach with an ever flowing supply of cocktails. I am somewhat the opposite. If I am going on vacation, I want to see and do everything there is to do and see … after all, if I wanted to relax, I would do it at home. The rest of the family ranges in between.

When playing hide & seek, everybody always looks for the best place to hide, but there are only so many times you can hide in the closet, the toy chest, or among the stuffed animals (E.T. Style).  It’s much more interesting when you’re able to hide in plain sight and still not be found.  If you are going to do that, you need to be able to refrain from laughing, as ultimately that is what will get you caught.

I absolutely love, love, love my home, inside and out.  I will always be persistent and say that I truly love my home.  However, we’ve been faced with challenges (some difficult and some hilarious) that we have overcome through persistence and a positive attitude.  I look at it like raising children: you love them to death, but sometimes the challenge can be overwhelming.  Shading my backyard is one of those challenges that has been difficult, yet hilarious.  I can say that now, but two weeks ago, I was on the brink of going postal.

It’s not the big things that drive us crazy in life, it’s the little things.  I’ve heard the saying, “Tornados and hurricanes get more news coverage, but termites cause more damage.” That’s true for so many things in life.

Think of the things that drive you crazy:

Not finding your car keys.
Being stuck in traffic.
Your mother-in-law is coming for a 2 week visit.
Your husband leaves dirty socks on the floor.
Your wife doesn’t put the remote control in the spot you want it in (on purpose).
